A Tear and a Smile

Listening to music on the stereo
Floyd playing hard but soft and low
A tear rolls down my face
Although I’m not sad at all

You can cry a happy tear for the life you used to have
When you were a younger man
And the music played oh so loud
And we all would dance the nights away

So I sit and think about it and I cry a tear
Though I’m not sad

Stress level higher these days
But you can put it all away
When you hear that music play
And you remember those days

It was a happy time in a different way
No ties that bind or bills to pay
But you don’t mind paying
For the life you have today

And it was as different then
As the music is today

So with the music playing soft and low
I spare a tear for the times so long ago
And I laugh for the times we had
You can cry with happiness for the memories that you have

They were as happy then
As the times you have today
Just in a different time and a different way
And it’s worth a smile and a tear

I remember those times
And I smile for what I had and what I have today
