They Care
his disability is not
the center of attention
tonight as he dances, so fine
so loud and proud....
of his conviction.
they always know he is special
is he aware that they always know?
and no one mocks him. builds confidence.
watch him dance. compliment him.
only he is the show star tonight
not his disability no
he may not be self-aware
enough to ever think it so.
seen as one of them
in their peer group
in the glitter shine
of the disco ball
the lights flash on:
fun is to be had
for a moment
no challenge.
