Questions of Service
Let us return again to the questions
That underlie the service that she owes;
If earthy things snag at her state of grace,
And, in her darkened need, a fallen femme
Might find herself at one with trunks brought down
In autumn’s storms; this shows equality:
How fair it is for him to have her bend
And kneel and bare and take all that he’ll give
Her as she serves so faithfully to clear
The senses less illustrious despite
His judgement clouded by such higher things
A mind can find to distract from the fact
She’s surely ready for the darkening season
And that return to questions once again.
