Fate Think

I don't drive by choice
Living in New York City
Cars are a hassle
I'd probably get stopped for driving too slow

Last car was a '73 yellow AMC Hornet
Totally unsexy
My father bought it for me
I was psyched, it had FM radio

Quite frankly I'm not in a driver head anymore
I feel safer on the subway at 1am
then driving on the FDR
Nobody cares if I text on the 6 train

I kinda morphed off here
This poem was supposed to be political
About the fate of being born white
Where you get special privileges even if you're an asshole

Tulsa, Charlotte and all the rest
Sicken me as a person of reason
You get peace thoughts like Muslim Appreciation Day
When all violence against color leaves you frozen

I have no answers though I wish I did
It's why I watch baseball
Nobody gets killed, citizens need not fear
The worst that can happen is to be hit by a pitch
