The Tower Dark

There is a tower, dark and gray,
Like something from a dark ballet,
The castle enclosed by a moat,
There, a fire-breathing dragon floats.

The tower holds secrets untold,
Waiting for someone brave and bold,
To make his way to that lone room,
And free the secret from its tomb.

The fire-eating dragon was first,
I fought and killed it, then I cursed,
Swam the moat to the other side,
There I met a monster named Clyde.

We fought three days til he was done,
I was tired, but had just begun,
I would climb to the tower high,
There's something there I can't let die.

I fought through the huge double doors,
Slaying things I'd n'er seen before,
A gaggle of witches on brooms,
Swooped down hoping I would be doomed.

Each step I made up the old stairs,
I almost turned around, I swear,
I had to fight gargoyles and bears,
Enemies slain and then I did swear.

As I climbed up toward my goal,
Everything seemed out of control,
But press on and soon I would win,
As Medusa's snakes raked my skin.

Cerberus, Hades' three-headed dog,
Stood guard at the door like a log,
It stood between me and my prize,
Took two days for the dog to die.

The Tower Dark room now was mine,
I walked right in and saw the sign,
What I had fought for was in sight,
At that time I fell into fright.

With pounding chest walked to the spot,
Although in my veins my blood did clot,
I touched the box, removed the lid,
I stared in awe although forbid.

Some secrets should never be told,
Like searching and finding fools gold,
Now I wander the earth for all time,
Making the secret mine, all mine.

Give up your search you can't find me,
But I know you’ll try to find the key,
And if you do you'll surely die,
An undead death such as I.

And just like the Wandering Jew,
You'll walk the earth and leave no clue,
The Tower Dark unleashed its spell,
And you'll be serving a living hell.
