Image for the poem TRISTE

TRISTE

Found a sheet on the floor
Caked with blood to mar
Left no vestige on the door
Hidden from the path ajar
Wrought from the jaded life
Akin to death with quiet bliss
Taken yonder by kiss of knife
Resultant metamorphosis

Apparent tryst
Ameliorated consequence
Brought to desist
Harlequin to that beloved affair
Redirected to a struggle
Heaven's flower for Hell to dine
Engorged with one consuming intention
Saddened eye, forgone the incline
Relinquished will to reason
Clawed for a hope destroyed
Credence of foul treason
As the essence fills the void

Time approaching faster
Apprentice slayed the master
Garroted and stowed away
Darkness kept the light at bay

Cadaver smiles
Soaking the tiles
The image clears
Of use as deaf ears

Emaciated
Like the boughs of a tree
In the threshold of wintertide
Alleviated
Like Lucifer of empathy
In the abyss, his deflowered bride

Channeling strength allayed
Absquatulated complexion
Yielding of the ghost portrayed
Sinister nature of this intention
Crushed wings of an angel
By the words of malediction
Hounds baying by the cradle
The aftereffect of perdition

‘As the night is nigh
And the tomb is dry
Ashes clothe the chain
All sinews turn to grain
Triste embers burn no more
New frost inside the core’
