Image for the poem IN A SALT CIRCLE

IN A SALT CIRCLE

The inevitability of failure
Sitting by the soft glaze
Feeling like I’m trapped here
In a salt circle

Swans fly
Plumage white
Heaven's cry
Cherubs die

Straying from the truce
Threes below the twos
Deeper than the red
Sixes that they dread

Sunrise
Down inside
Palest light
Dawn had lied

Scratching of your voice
Cancerous equilibrium
Triumph in your poise
Freed you with iridium

Tied noose
Crescent bruise
Sharpened nails
To avail
