Red wine and cheese

Mists lifting  tops of trees,
ghosts from a moonless night
close me round, promise a
sun-filled day kept 'til
evening returns,unspoken
promises, gentle ghosts,
pale as mists soften
yews trimmed to urns,
round of belly, green-dark ,
standing guard beside a
gravel path,company for
red wine and cheese,
September eve, cooling
as murmured conversations
from deckchair comfort,
confirm, confess content.
