Don't Mention It

He beats her to remind her who she is
And what she is as well, namely his slave;
There needn’t be a reason; if decis-
-ions seem just whims, then, though they often stave
Off boredom, they keep focus on the fact
That she is property and she is owned;
As each direct, unmistakable act
Of cruelty means the idea is honed
And his control soon becomes her routine;
It will not be disturbed; to interrupt
This work of art would be iconoclasm
And such destruction would simply corrupt
Her rather more than each complex orgasm
That she derives from his very attention
And all the beatings she will never mention.
