Philosophy Class

Philosophy Class
Girls in floral print dresses
Chatter like Chickadees
With blue-jeaned boys
In a high school lyceum
Where Plato can’t compete
With green grass and blue skies
So we follow the sun
Onto the campus green
Where teenagers do cartwheels
While I sit in Buddha pose
With the heart of a child

Next period finds fresh faces
Seeking release from classroom cloister
Just like the ones who came before
But I block the door with a silly grin
They take their seats like oarsmen in a galley
Girl gives me the low down
On my most un-cool rule
