into the mist
a bereft tree
with each leaf of inspiration
picked from it's branches
left bare to face the winter
*
emotionally shivering
without my covering
naked and alone
afraid of what's coming
*
as the fog rolls in
blanketing my mind
it's so hard to see
through the cold mist
*
feeling the words
realizing i'm an evergreen
never facing the world
without my pen
*
I ink out my pain
picking up the pieces
of my broken life
begin anew

Can't get enough of these words, Brenda. Simple. True. From the heart, with much wisdom.

The emotional pain is felt, but you made it truly so beautiful. I love the expression in this piece. It is utterly breathtaking.
We all goes through these seasons. It is tough, but does get better.
Sweet ((hugs)) to you my friend. 💓

Yours is the most incredibly vibrant ink I've have the pleasure of laying eyes on. I believe that's because your ink is your essence. And how could it not be beautiful when you brand the page with you? Hang in there...winter is a fleeting thing, cold and sharp, with spring on the horizon.

I've missed your words of strength and recovery, Brenda. You are a beautiful evergreen against a barren winter of background. Keep the faith, sister.

Brilliant! I love introspective poems and this one is deep and beautiful on many levels. Visually it reminds me of a poem I wrote thirty-some-odd years ago called "Sleep - Hiding From the Touch of Death" and I like the metaphors reaching out of your braches... great write Bren!

This begins on a grim note, with the barren tree. It's good to know that your own branches are not bereft, that you're evergreen. All the better having a pen to ward off ill winds. Beautiful work Lady Crim!
