"the humming of the strings"

Their soul was attached to the sky
in those quintessential
drops of solitude in the darkness,

He loved to hear the strumming of the strings;
the frequencies were played night after night
until the mayhem was starting to make sense to him,

Changing, and turning into a song that he had placed into his mind
as though it were a dream he only once knew –
it sounded so familiar – the frequencies and vibrations
were becoming his music.

Pythagoras said  “there is geometry
in the humming of the strings,
and there is music in the spacing of the spheres.”

Imagine being suspended in the shadowy light,
seeing the rings of Saturn move
night after night to get the rhythm right
listening to Jupiter’s silence across space-time,
and watching the universe harmonize through invisible stride and song.

“Rest satisfied with doing well,
and leave others to talk
of you as they will.”  ~ Pythagoras
