Would You Stay?
sinking toes into mud
explanatory
in itself, mysteriously matching
interior and exterior sensation.
the earth swallows swatches
of skin and pale guilt
slumps into muddied pride.
returning to truth
while still hovering
slightly above it.
knees possesed by prayful position
without thought
of clarity or request.
longing
the pine needle pinches
(a sensation endured
by the living) while dead detritus gives the last of its purpose to this strange
creature looking to feel something new.
a shooting sharpness.
a welcoming pain
as hands
crunch pine cones and scurry
to find the weight
to push reason forward.
sunlight breaks through thin branches
and finds a barrier of flesh
folded into the wide brash forest lap.... waiting
for night to come
and logic to return.
dust off...
stand up...
return to your concrete skin
with humbled moss and
meager leaf interiors,
introverted and reminded
that all senses lead back
to the woulds.
