I Set Fire

.

"I am too pure for you or anyone.
Your body
Hurts me as the world hurts God."

- Fever 103°, Sylvia Plath

These lips
Speak
And never
Had been kissed.

I hope you're happy
When you let my name out of your own in whispers,
When you write it in Plath and suicide dolls,
Look at me with lust
And write me in stardust.

'Cause you are their God.
Oh holy hell.
And I am
I am just a girl.
Just a girl
Dancing
Tripping
Between Madonna and Whore

And
You

Never touched me.

No one ever did.

You never will.

And I
Will carry my bell jar
All I want.

And I smile.
For the world I write to,
For the words, for me.
My colors are not anyone else's.

And you dare.
Dare come closer and
Try to extinguish the new sparks
From the sleeping Just Girl
With your cum.
You know these dreams,
You know this pain, this flight,
And you dare.

Did you smile?
When they 'oohed' and 'aahed'
At the virgin's
Whorishness -
Did you smile?
As they saw me,
As the Lazarus just became another
'Her'
Hidden in your smoke
While you drink fancy alcohol
And jerk yourself off,
Did you smile?

And I applaud.
The way you cut without mercy
The way I never can.
I give doubts and chances.
You spit on them.

I flirted
With death before
But only you
You
Paint me
Like a bare-assed Wally Neuzil,
Muse
And whore
Not love
And nothing -
Nothing more.

Do you layer more hues to hide
The cruel?
To sweeten.
Do you think you make my love, my poetry?

Make me dirty?
Chaste?

No.
I am neither.
I am everything
You are not to touch.

I am what I want to be.

You do not have to see.

Look away, then.

Look away.
