Like a Tree
sometimes I feel just like a tree
standing, waiting patiently
the winds of life keep blowing through
clouds and rain and sunlight too
underground the seldom seen
roots of life, we share a dream
we share a vision from before
we're coalescing more and more
in the present flowing chi
consciousness just like a tree
never moving very far
yet still reaching for a star
the Sun, which shines all through the night
even though Earth's shadow might
make it seem that it's not there
we share life and we are where
most of everything in space
in atoms spinning as we race
is emptiness, is just a dream
is something more than what it seems
sometimes I feel just like a tree
standing, waiting patiently
in a vision from before
coalescing more and more
standing, waiting patiently
the winds of life keep blowing through
clouds and rain and sunlight too
underground the seldom seen
roots of life, we share a dream
we share a vision from before
we're coalescing more and more
in the present flowing chi
consciousness just like a tree
never moving very far
yet still reaching for a star
the Sun, which shines all through the night
even though Earth's shadow might
make it seem that it's not there
we share life and we are where
most of everything in space
in atoms spinning as we race
is emptiness, is just a dream
is something more than what it seems
sometimes I feel just like a tree
standing, waiting patiently
in a vision from before
coalescing more and more
