Black Silk Stalking

The killer wears gloves, the finest black leather
Maintains a collection of exotic blades
His mind echoing a lost lullaby
He steps into the streets of Rome

The whore finds herself isolated and alone
Frightened by shadows and the weight of night
The click of heels following her
His silhouette the shape of malice and regret

He continues to trail this fallen one
Cornering her near the palazzo
Her terror inspiring his desire
His love offered in rhyme:

"Hush, my angel, don't shed a tear
Nothing left for you to fear
I replace the blade, breathe a sigh
You're too beautiful to die."

Inspired by "giallos," Italian movie thrillers from the '60s and '70s.
