Flesh and Bone
finding myself after all these years
drawing stick figures in the sand
knowing the tide will wash them away
an act of pure futility
yet I believe somewhere in myself
that I can put flesh and bone
to my skeletal writes
make real blood pump through their veins
like a God give them life
watch as they take a first breath
look on as my creation
becomes something of substance
I'm still scribbling on bathroom stalls
the filth of my youth
a mark that I was here
written in my own shit
I want to know and taste beauty
able to recognize real art
when I witness it
could be we're all given a unique palette
with which to paint with
I'm driven like a women possessed to press on
drawing stick figures in the sand
the tide is coming time to begin again

You exquisite poetry as an art written by an artist of life, truth and sensual love.
Your palette of heightened colors you will always have. The palette of youth is yours and ours to have read from what you have written.
Thank you Brenda.
Always love.

Such a passionate artist.
Full of heart and soul.
Every word, forever felt into the depths.
True beauty, which will always speak to the depths of others 💓

The perseverance of a poet is the blood that drives
their creative spirit, Brenda. You have that in spades.
The waves do not destroy that which we creates;
that which we creates becomes its own life.
The waves provide us a new canvas with which
to continue our pursuit of the creative process.
Wonderful write.

We live our lives making marks in the sand, such a beautiful analogy. Don't forget though, each time we move the sand to another position it has been forever moved...even if the tide moves it out again. It will never be in that original place again. We made a mark...and we will again. :) Beautiful, my lady, beautiful! :)

I'm glad you feel those figures are worth drawing, Crim, and your lines are worth writing. They're absolutely more than worth reading. This is inspirational, a reminder that things don't last but can still be enjoyed if the creativity's there. Excellent work fine lady!

such beautiful lines and words, such passions and longing for enlightenment - in time it will come, you will not see it coming, you cannot make it come - one day it will arrive, no noisy parades, no tick-a-tape. you might not even notice - them all of a sudden you'll smile, you'll smile that warn smile that tells you, deep down, you are content - love and ehugs on their way :-)

Re. Flesh and Bone
Brenda such a beautiful and thoughtful write. There are those that wish there was as much flesh and bone in their writes as there are in yours. I know that in the end that you will have what you are searching for. There is a drive and a persistence in you and there is no way that you could fail. Beautiful and inspirational.

I think our deepest writes comes from when we are not focused on capturing certain attention but we write from our soul, our heart and when we find ourselves on certain turns like pain and in search of self we tend to go deep and reveal so much because we are vulnerable. The mask dropped.... I really enjoyed reading this piece abstract art lol.... Keep drawing and one day you will find that your drawings will reflect more then just a stick figure...
