A WALK IN THE SAND

Take my hand that our steps may know the ocean
Let us walk together barefoot in the surf
A million stars shine ripples below our feet

Dance the gitanos’ dance to your tambourine
Sing me to sleep on your gypsy lullaby
To know you as your poem becomes my heart

Awaken me in your song’s sterling moonlight
Let me come to be in silver sea-foam's wash
A pageant marched in sand to Sea’s lapping waves

The sky dyed vi’let in cat's eye and diamonds
Moved to indigo at its fickle closing
Replaced in grey mountains’ outlines with night’s end

Mists give way to keener light at Sun’s encroach
As sky, shading turquoise, whispers in our throats
