His Favorite Instrument
He played me like his favorite instrument
He enjoyed plucking my strings
Just to hear me sing
He loved my melodies
And the harmonious music I made
He marveled at the craftsmanship
And the way I was made
The melodious sounds I would make
He confessed I soothed his soul
And would often trap him
In a fictitious world
That was conjured up in his head
But, he never truly wanted to keep me
Or take me everywhere he went
I was just his favorite instrument
That when he wanted to hear the wonderful music
He would pick up and play
Only to put back in the corner
To collect dust
Until he wanted me again

We are not meant to be instruments kept on shelves. We're meant to be free to make our music whenever the song takes us. This is a sad but beautiful write.

Indeed it is.... A sad write on many levels.... The instrument should be cherished, wanted and appreciated not just in times when the mood hits.... The music it makes should be enjoyed daily.... Thanks Willow for the love....

Such a painfully beautiful piece.
The sadness is overwhelming.
Full liberty is truly cherished, and meant for our souls.
A very lovely write.

Re. His Favorite Instrument
Though it is a bit sad, it's honesty. Love isn't always rainbows and sunshine. Beautifully written love.

Love definitely isn't always about the rainbows and the sunshine and sometimes there will be some heavy rain that you have to weather through but in life you can't just be only the sum of your parts, you have to be appreciated and loved for all you are and for someone to want you more then just for what's between your thighs.... Thanks Lyrical...

This piece reminds me of a poem I wrote a couple years ago with musical metaphors. I can relate to the essence of this poem, and the disappointment of your true worth not being seen. Beautiful ache!

Sometimes there are no words to convey so all you do is render silent and give a hug which can at times speak more volumes then uttering a word.... Thank you Elario and welcome to DU...

Well a true 'Musician' treasures his 'instrument' with all he is... Me? I'd eat, sleep, drink, n breathe it keepin it near me 24/7... But hey that's how I've always been with my 'music' :)

Re. His Favorite Instrument
So beautiful and deeepp, I
think we all at some point
can admit to being used
or being a user ..
My llady, this struck fires inside
my femininity to a point of
taking a breathing moment. and
even more so the living entitles
inside.. which knows of being
cast down. .thrown away. .simply
shelved as you so provocatively
put it.
You still have it after all this
this time , touching souls is
what you do.. .
