the smell of flowers
so fresh and new; as i look
your way so pretty.
heart beating faster to think
you approach me faster still.
lust like birds in may
your sparkling dress; in the breeze
and your nice spring eyes.
mating season has arrived
and a fresh spring breeze off bay.
when skin starts to show
how come you look; cute in spring
as pre-summer tan.
that's when the hormones start going
and the heart starts racing fast.
crushes peak in spring
as i watch you; with your friends
i'm not in your league.
when will this loneliness end
as i walk back home alone.
the skirts coming out
a time for fear; of bodies
anxiety peaks.
skirts and sandals start to show
me feeling inferior.
beautiful people
strutting their stuff; on display
my sweater summer.

I lifted the title from a phrase in the movie 'Bambi' .... a movie from my childhood. About the spring time. That's it, really.

Sad and beautiful. It invokes thoughts on opposite ends of the spectrum but does so gently. It's made my morning better and for that I thank you, now I want coffee ;)
