Just a Cow

She was just a cow looking through the mist
Actually, she was more than just a cow
And this was more than just mist
It wasn’t cold and wet like the usual mist
It was warm and wet, a mist with a twist
She also smelled a funny smell
And not the usual farmyard hell

Turns out that the mist was steam
A shower given to get cows clean
To smell it better she stopped chewing the cud
The funny smell was the smell of blood

As she turned the corner she heard cows screaming
And she prayed to god she was only dreaming
Just a nightmare, slow march complying
Their throats now slit, her pals drip drying

She read the sign Mohamed Kumar
Scotland’s one and only Hal lal abitoir
She didn't know what that really meant
But knew it would be something she'd live, briefly, to resent
