rigidity

You don’t bend and I like it
because I am too flexible
and for the briefest of moments
I enjoyed your statuesque physique
that made me feel both safe
and free

You don’t bend and I kind of like it
the way your passions
drive your life makes me wish
I had that much conviction
or fire for anything
that isn’t fleeting

You don’t bend and I think I like it
everything set in its place
though I get the feeling I’m an odd
shape in your streamlined world
and I’m not sure if you’re looking
to challenge me or change
the things that make me, me

You don’t bend
and I’m not sure I like it
your way or the highway
and your inability to let go
of that almost fight we had
where the only thing I did right
was stand up for myself
and the only thing you did wrong
was hate me for it

You don’t bend and I don’t like it
because I can’t compromise myself
out of my own existence

So I can’t bend anymore
for you
