Sonnetificationism

I’d like to write with meter and with rhyme;
But gosh, it takes a lot of work, you know!
And one thing I don’t have is extra time
To wrestle thoughts and make them gently flow.

But when I’m lucky, form just comes unbidden -
Pentameter falls neatly in my lap.
It’s often silly, and the point is hidden.
I’ll get one brilliant verse; the rest is crap.

To rhyme and count, that is the easy part;
It’s like a music exercise to me.
But giving flight to what is in my heart
Requires verses unconstrained and free.

See – now I’ve hit the end without a clue
Just what it was I meant to say to you!

Oh well…… this was just an exercise to see how quickly I could throw the words together with the right form.  Fun-fun, silly-willy!  Don’t bother looking for depth or meaning – it is what it is and I’m sharing it just to give us all a chuckle.  :)
