Slipping Sideways

my will to live is slipping
once I thought this essence
inside us a fairy tale

I feel it fading now
grains in a hour glass
draining out quickly

my energy seeping into the sidewalk
the sun on my back barely casting a shadow
I'm a ghost of myself

grasping the air
searching for a place to hold on
something to put me back on solid ground

feeling the world shake beneath me
seeking to cast me off
like a bucking bull

weary of this wild ride
tired and bored with this life
my soul letting go before my body is cold

tomorrow is another day to die
today I choose life
harden up I tell myself

stare down that black hole
that seeks to suck you in
fuck it do what it takes

I'm going to live!
