Back to the Beginning
It all started
Less than a block
From this very spot
It all started
On this very site
Pathetic unrequited love
Poem after poem
Like scars on an arm
Mutilation of the heart
The desire for what
Is so out of reach
Tears hit the keyboard
So many years ago
It feels like decades
From the times
I loved anyone who
Wanted my fragile heart
Now I have lost that charm
Gave it up and away
Sent it flying into the air
Burning into gray ash
I walk down the streets
The gentle rain decorating
My frizzy, unwashed locks
No longer did I walk
Shyly, full of such shame
My head held proud
As the rain kissed me
Such a long time ago
It was that I loved so easily
Less than a block
From this very spot
It all started
On this very site
Pathetic unrequited love
Poem after poem
Like scars on an arm
Mutilation of the heart
The desire for what
Is so out of reach

My head held proud
As the rain kissed me
Such a long time ago
It was that I loved so easily
