A girl might care

The girl does not care that people don’t like;
She gives not a fuck they think themselves right,
When they are quite wrong, complete, utter fools:
To be twisted and hooked on shallow rules,
That each will subscribe to – these damned masses;
She rejects pretty lads and those butch lasses,
They want to ensure that they’re in control,
Knowing their power, caught up in the role
She will let them play: each one of them takes
An age of keen study and then each breaks
On rocks of contempt, as they're found wanting,
Huffing,puffing, recanting and panting;
Hurling themselves off cliff edges - they dare
To think they've won and that a girl might care.
