The Disbeliever

It’s a straight line from the originals who walked along
To us in our towers and jets that race the dawn
They somehow invented Gods and we still play along
So empty all your pockets so that they might live on
Raise your hands in supplication
Because you’ve just been robbed
Hallelujah they say
Hallelujah they believe
Life to come after this one
What a great con job
And the leaders live in castles surrounded by guards
To keep the believers away
The believers pay for everything for those who say they talk for God
And nothing is ever shared their way
But dig a little deeper
Fill their coffers past the overflow
You never know when they might need it
To make the break from God and those who pay for him
With the millions that they take to go
Hallelujah they say
Hallelujah they know
Even after they’re raped to God they go
Say a prayer for me
The disbeliever
To see the light before the end of times
So Hallelujah I can say
And somehow make myself believe
So God can fill my heart if not my hungry mouth
