ANGEL’S WINGS  (conversation with Hepcat61 poem)

( a sonnet)
Original poem written from Hepcat61 (geoff the cat)

My mirrored me stares back in harshest light
May this light be a lost memory in your inner labyrinth
My beard breaks blades were never meant to shave
Let your beard tell you the truth of the years wasted
I pull my shoulders back, tear muscles tight
Head up, tonight you are a man, don’t be afraid of Lilith
And turn to show the scars of what I gave
This intimate moment smells like the pain you tasted.

A bedroom shocked in plastic water cans
All the love you made couldn’t make you drunk
With lover’s hate that permeates the room
A way to protect the nonexistent feelings
Again to feel their weight, those martyred spans
There is no weight if you send the grey clouds to junk
As tortured days, a weightless life, consume
In sleepless nights we are just eyes rather than human beings.

I chose a life that all heaven forsake
She chose a heaven that all life forsake
What heaven’s blades removed, I gave to her
Unable to accept withered promises relief
And pain’s reward, a heart she wouldn’t take
No blood deserves to run through a mistake
But soul she’d break, to love my pain prefer
No pain permits to think twice what if.

Though now chained down in weighted earthly things
When I'm absolved I know I’ll grow new wings
Though now she has no air to fly away from failed needs
When she feels beloved again, she’ll have no need to grow wings.

My gratitude to Geoff for  inspiring me and let me create a conversation with his great poem.
Thank you!
