Vestfrost Spirit

i've been followed most if not all of my life  
have felt the presence many times  
it's saved my ass a few times too  
no i am not crazy it's true  
is it one or is it many?  
i often wonder about that  
sometimes i am glad about it  
and thankful  
that someone is looking out for me  
but other times the presence annoys me  
like a peeping Tom is in the room  
for some reason it's taken up residence in my fridge  
been there a few years now  
produces sounds like a door gently shutting  
no it's not the motor starting or anything mechanical  
sometimes it goes nuts  
and i try to ignore it as i am doing something  
and it goes tap tap tap tap tappity tap tap  
until i shout out  
give me a fridging break already  
what the hell do you want?  
want to tell me something?  
say it don't tap it  
just show yourself and get it over with  
i'm a big girl  
tired of this game always  
that usually makes it stop for a while  
to make matters worse  
it only happens when i am alone in the living room  
nobody hears it but me  
my wife gave me a funny look when i told her  
i don't mention it anymore  
now it's doing it again as i write this  
maybe i need to learn Morse code  
maybe not  
i shouldn't complain though  
some attention is better than none at all  
sometimes i wonder if it's a passed on relative  
sentenced to a half existence  
in my fridge  
and i wonder  
whether it approves of me  
or bemoans it's sentence  
kind of feel sorry for it  
stuck in a Vestfrost appliance  
i hope that won't happen to me
