EMPTY HALLWAY

She was always a lonely long walk home
To the saddest song
She was always a plea"I'm sorry " from behind the door
When the tears would come
And I believed in every hope she'd throw
Until her eyes they changed from golden to coal
She was always a shotgun racking sound
From the bed to floor
Trusting in the potions to make her numb
Before she falls in love
And I would hold her till the crash brought her back
Then watch her hurry off soon after she'd land
I'd have had enough of the silence
by then
she says
It's a murderous mindset
When silence
It ends
And I could take her home
In arms
The drugs
The broken dreams and bones
But now. ..
She's an empty hallway.
