she said the rain is blue
blue as my tears she said
mascara streaked, her fiery eyes
are captive in my head
she hid a troubl’d heart
a secret too sadden to tell
encoded within the chimes
of a silvry floating bell
scarlet, the arrows of time
and love is but a martyr
tavern songs are purple shrouded
in silence, as I depart her
we, strangers were, who sought for lust
and strangers when we kissed
but never dared to shed the skin
of ramblers in the mist
and all of dark, and all of light
will hear the crimson tune
and chant the graveyard’s knell in spite
the poem ended too soon; too soon
for the lover of yesterday
is the suff’ring of tomorrow
if you meet me for a drink
it will be at the well of sorrow…
