Butterfly Effect
I wish this attraction
was a chemical reaction
a pheromone induced stupor
where the noose was a little looser
and not choking out all reason
leaving it open season
for bad gallows humor
on what's become a tumor
a rampantly spreading cancer
for which death's the only answer
a final transformation
from a life of subjugation
to a colorful fluttering start
for this flightless frightened heart

💋 thank you but the title isn't original, I appropriated it as it felt fitting to the concept.

I agree, it is most often ourselves that tie knot in the noose we hang ourselves with.
Here the death is of ego and I was attempting to convey the metamorphosis from fear of love to a willing death of being grounded by that fear to the acceptance that love changing us is how we are "reborn" into a new (hopefully better) life/person. I may have missed my mark. 😮
Thank you for your thoughts on the poem.
Peace
V

The rhyming was really good. Well, you didn't really used extraordinary words or anything but the way you used them made it extraordinary. Good job here.

No problem there. I enjoyed the time reading. "Hal"? That's a first, made me feel like a Green Lantern. Peace. 😊

Ooo, yes! That's the dangerous kind of reckless attraction! I see.
Very nice ink!
