I was thinking, when I saw the title, it would be about those kinds of digits, rather than something about IT.
There was a Welsh landowner called John Salisbury (lived 16th century) who was known as Sion Y Bodiau (John of the Thumbs) because he had two thumbs on each hand and two big toes on each foot - something that in his day must have inspired superstitious dread about him.

Too right! They would have to blame the spirits... industrial pollution hadn't been invented
