SILENCE HIDES VIOLENCE

I stood by you
I took beatings and abuse
guilt, shame and fear
watched him beat you senseless
leaving you black and blue my dear

Keep your mouth shut and your
eyes open, echoes in my mind
what I've since learned is
SILENCE HIDES VIOLENCE and an
eye for an eye sends the whole
world blind

Domestic Violence
no woman or man should ever endure
a powerfully violent lesson from
two people I now ignore

You taught me this in the most
traumatic frightening way
children learn from their parents
how to love and hate
how to act
and how to play
addiction, enabling, violence and
infidelity is what you taught me
I'm grateful I never ended up the same way
it is said, the apple doesn't fall far
from the tree

For this I thank GOD at the start of each day
so I can forgive you
hold my head high
and walk away
Domestic Violence trauma
trapped in my memories
for GOD and I to discuss
each time I pray
