multi-purpose macaroni
walking in the rain,
remembering grade school days,
and dreaming up another hill to slide.
*
maple trees are losing babies.
maybe i won’t make it home.
*
walking in my Sunday grungies,
nowhere in particular.
the liquor store was next.
*
thirty-first birthday candle
and a spoon, i’ll be a dead beat
poet soon.
*
my pride and joy:
my bread and mayo.
*
did you know…
cheap cabernet sauvignon goes so well
with mayonnaise sandwiches…
“you are my sunshine, my only sunshine…”
*
multi-purpose liquor purchase,
ID scanned,
ego crumpled in a pocket,
proffered, smoothed out at the counter.
God looks up from a vodka tonic
with a wink.
*
ahh, floodlight-bathed life.
children are playing and saying their happy thoughts.
a shadow picks its nose.
*
thoughts in beer bubbles…
i was going to destroy sid.
the idea wasn’t clear.
“tell me more of this,” i thought,
and took another sip.
the idea vanished in laughter.
*
…now mix your macaroni
with half a jar of tomato sauce,
half a pound of sour cream,
a three-second swirl of olive oil,
and slurp the whole bowl down.
