Distance without Rest

Distance without Rest

What is a climbing
but a vaulting through
a maze
of energies?

Would it take
so very much
to bring her
to her knees?

An Atlas
in Atlantis,
a Mars
of martial earth,

would it take
an army
to take her down
to dearth?

A show
of all
she has to give,
her aspiration’s end,
would follow through
both sock and shoe,
on feet
that rocks would bend.

She’s on the stairs
and well ahead
and strength
with more than yield,

and this is why
her climbing soul
soars far
above the field.
