BLOOMS

(a villanelle)

It’s with the night’s descent our flower blooms
To show with lunar light its varied hues
Arousing love’s ascent with its perfumes

She has my heart with all its love assumes
As my heart does her love wholly infuse
It’s with the night’s descent our flower blooms

Our bodies, too, our blushing love consumes
For none the other ever could refuse
Arousing love’s ascent with its perfumes

With moonlight comes our rhythmed love resumes
First she then I will douse in midnight dews
It’s with the night's descent our flower blooms

In sheens brought deep from our love’s fragrant plumes
To bring again when spent love’s airs confuse
Arousing love’s ascent with its perfumes

A hardy stem pink petal folds presumes
To hold aloft that coming dawn renews
It’s with the night's descent our flower blooms
Arousing love’s ascent with its perfumes
