Poached Eggs

Remember how hot it was
when it first started?
as we slipped into a boiling pan
enveloped in a liquid warmth
of soft kisses and whispered nothing's

We were so transparent and loose
held together only by the heat
of each other's embrace
The simmer growing
our silky soft exteriors
masking our runny insides

I'm sorry, that it was just a fraction
of a temperature change
which shook me from our sexy slumber
a delayed cool reality
that it wasn't going to work

I never should have said
those five fierce words
which pierced you
and made your insides
drip dry, across my plate

I still think of you
Everytime
I eat
poached eggs.
