a letter had been writ
using a graphite-influenced lead pencil
four pages
three photos were enclosed
something personal
something for her
something
just a rambling sort of letter
nothing particular
to say
merely desiring to reach out
to someone special
I didn't mail it yesterday
I won't mail it today
I shall keep it
intact
never to be opened
sitting here beside me
with words sealed, never to be read

Naw, can't do that Taryn. I was involved
with a woman who was married. She planned
to leave him and come to me. She backed-off
of that promise and went back to him. It's over
I want nothing whatsoever to do with her even
a letter. I wrote it. Addressed it. Put a stamp on
it and put it in a drawer. There it shall remain.
