microscape

a distant haze on the horizon
past the lush wooded mountains -
sprinkled with yellow, grazed by shadow

a far-off vista through glass,
occupying only a narrow zone of my vision,
with a familiar sedative nature

perhaps the clouds - lightly daubed feathers
padding the pastel sky along the shifting hills,
where a beige arises into blue

where occasionally one may catch sights
of several faint dots assumed to be birds
grazing that supernal gradient

and in the crawling chaos of boredom,
a momentary peace washes over, seeming everlasting,
as this fleeting glimpse passes through my mind

i'm awoken from this somnolent stasis,
voluntarily, almost, by the roaring drone
of the road ran over below

a solitary visual refreshment
leaving me a touch better off than i was before it,
though longing for even just a second more...

i am content
