Charcoal Colored Thoughts

longing to create some beauty
a masterpiece lovingly made
though my mind has turned dark

my brightly infused watercolors
replaced with charcoals
coloring my thoughts a deep onyx

wanting the rain to caress my nude form
wash away all the sins of yesterday
kiss me in the lonely, ugly places

left holding wilted black lilies
so symbolic of my feelings
tender of soul, fierce of mind

letting the dew wash over me now
knowing today is a new day
with more poetry on the horizon

accepting charcoals can create
the most poignant of pictures
I take them in hand and begin again
