Stir the Lotus Eaters
stir them from slumber
the Lords and Masters
who crowned themselves
as Earth's guardians
Wake them from their bliss
of sleepy ignorance
tell them paradise is lost
it's over
the lotus plants are gone
stuck dried to cracked mud
though eaters prefer smiling complacency
their world enclosed in gauzy opulence
worshippers smile at the sun
skin slowly turning bronze
flirting with perceived beauty
ignoring the rising tide
For those with thickly padded wallets
children hunker, churning out garments
packing food, beauty care, handbags
in grey buildings spewing out grey fluffy clouds
farms abound...papa croc fed for handbags
in the oceans, turtles caught with tunas
scrapped corals and whales roll in nets
the ocean highways broken
oh Kings and Queens
heads anointed with wisdom
slumber no more
listen to Earth's groans
she trembles and quakes
sighs out storms and tsunamis
she shouts out tornadoes
she cries devastating floods
Heed Her...
awake and switch off the neon lights
silence the chainsaws and the excavators
stop the drilling and mountain cutting
before Mother Earth sighs her death
Mars is too far away.
