Thorny Rose

Mist blows cold across dark green lake
Heavy clouds move across sky
In river of icy air
Lying in tent
Beneath pines  
Thick wool blanket conceals our nakedness
Our hearts woven together
Our bodies wrapped together like grape vines
Your sinuous form molded against my breast
The storm in our hearts
Makes us oblivious to thunder in sky

Your tongue brushes across my lips
Like butterfly wings,
Delicate as a Japanese calligrapher’s stroke
My fingers trace the curve of your hips
Fingertips brushing gently as spring breeze
Slipping feather like upon your sacrum
With each flash of lightening
The fire between us burns brighter

My hand moves cautiously across your breasts
Your sigh, an invitation to delve deeper
Into your mysterious dark recesses
Whispered love
A sweet breath of tenderness
Blowing from my mouth across your ears
Your soul lays naked
Beneath my penetrating gaze

Tears form on your cheeks
Some forgotten hurt
Welling up from the depths
Seeing anguish in your eyes
The flame of terror flickering there
I wonder what ancient injury
Desecrated your soul
Leaving your heart sealed
Your essence concealed
Mercifully I withdraw                

You clasp my face in your hands
Your misty eyes pleading
Seeing desire written in your tears
My body arcs gently into yours
Feeling you melt into formless ecstasy
Your weeping speaks to me
In a language beyond words
The silent message passing from you to me                                                                    
Finds me longing to kiss your wounded heart
And ease you into my embrace
Till your pain melts into pleasure
And love is all that remains
