Bear: a true story
I saved a dog once from a flash flood. He was stuck
in the middle of a road holding his ground...
a full grown Rottweiler named Bear, and just as big and cuddly.
,
I got out of my van, and the closer I walked toward him
in the current, the less afraid he was and started walking towards me.
We could have both been swept away in an instant.
He was so scared. I was too but we were steady together.
That dog meant the world to just one man, and for the life of
me I can’t remember his name. I don't know about the friend,
but I'm sure the dog would have done the same for me...
I can’t remember the guy’s name, but he had Bear well trained.
He could look at him, give Bear a signal, and the dog would do anything for him.
He could make you fear your life with that dog. He was proud of him.
I don’t remember how Bear got up there in the middle of the road,
but that guy would not go and get him. I think of Bear as his ego. Maybe he couldn’t save himself.
