That Which Once Was

Lingering in the depths of memories
Deep- rooted and timeworn within
Again remembering once sweet reveries
That which once was, touching your bare skin
That pleasure now diminished into past sin

Another fading into a dull, bleak gray
Left forsaken in all that remains
Ink bleeding about a fruitless play
Dealing solely with perpetual refrains
Sanity, reflection maintains

Dominance carries the pen
For which the submissive shrinks into the shadows
Plagued by an implacable, toxic carcinogen
Left without a voice for time commonly borrows
Twisted and lost, now a footpath grown over with sorrows

A honeyed melancholic melody gushes
Desperate and declined, coming up for air
The acquiescent, alive among degraded corpses
Anew amongst the slayer, ready for something fair
Dissatisfied with clichéd displeasures and solitary demises
