Sudden Silence
The sudden silence is quite beautiful
During an evening kiss or an embrace
That calms us both and helps us both to place
The day in context as you learn to school
Your lips to please me; they’re budding and full
Of promises you’ll keep: give me the taste
And further kisses that you’ve gently placed
Against my cheek – and, though the night is cool,
You warm me well with every single touch
You offer up to me when you’re inclined
To venture into loving as the violence
Of our embrace proves almost far too much
For you to bear through night; for you’ve divined
It’s beautiful to kiss through every silence.
