fifteen times
the earth turns fifteen times
then stops
because how can anything go on
without you
see, it’s not even a question
it’s simple fact
fifteen years
and you never once told me that you loved me
but I knew
like we all knew
and what are words worth anyway
when an image lasts longer
your eternal smile
burned bright into the backs of my eyes
met in my mind
by the sorrow of your last days
and hours
my hand
buried in your hair
as you breathed out
sighed away all your air
and then nothing after that
my body
shuddering, a leaf in the wind
tears unavoidable in the end
a house
no longer a home
or
a body
without a heart
something that is nothing without you
now I sleep and dream and wake
to find a day like yesterday
that shouldn’t have come
as I’m sure the earth turned fifteen times
then stopped
but it seems the world goes on
