The Race

Forest branches touch my feet, the brush I'm in is knee deep. I can't get a break everywhere I turn there seems to be eyes that glow and burn.
The Moon is my only light providing me to safety. I can hear the water running from the creek near by. I know if I can get there I might be able to hide. But every move that I make I seem to make sound. He'll hear me moving and come up around.

I try to stay still for a moment, just to hear the bush beside me make movement. All I can see are shadows from the moon shining down upon the trees creating monsters that haunt every child's dream. What if that's him? What if he sees me? I know if he finds me he'll most likely kill me.

I gotta make it to the  creek it's my only hope, if I want to stay alive I better go.  The bush beside me keeps shaking I hear twigs and branches breaking. It's got to be him, now what do I do?  Should I stay right here and hope it's nothing or make a run for it and possibly expose me?
Against my better judgement I decided to take off fast, then out of the bush rages a demonic man. He tries to grab me but I'm too quick, my adrenaline rushed and kicked in.

My mouth is dry my breathing is deep my pupils are dilated and I can't think rationally. I'm running faster than I ever thought I could I refuse to look back in case there he stood. The water is louder just a little bit farther to go, with each step I take I start to slow. I'm running out of energy my adrenaline starts to fall. Now I don't fear him I fear not making it at all.

With every stride my legs become weak I start to slow down rather quickly.  The water is right there I can see safe zone I'm so close to bringing victory home! But all of sudden he is right on my tail, prepared to take the life I've so closely held. I'm the only one left, everyone else has died I'm the only chance we have I must survive.

Victory has a sweet taste and I taste it, my adrenaline picked up and raced in. I feel the sweat pouring down my back, he gets in front of me and starts to laugh, I see his life flowing on his side, if I grab it he's dead and I'm still alive.

I take a big leap and reach for his side I get his ribbon and he begin to cry. I don't have time to stop and sympathize I have a game to win against the guys. I get to the creek and see the old victory bell I ring it right before I fell. I can hear the girls jumping up and down laughing and screaming because we just won the final round. Girls Vs boys in a grand Ole game played by every seniors on graduation day!
