A Feather in the Cloud

 See stranger in my skin,
Feathers in the cloud.
Dost thou sing or cry
When my dreams begin?

When thy dreams end,
Then I dream aloud
Falling to the sky
To kiss the plumes.

There I found a friend
In the ghost of an orchard—
Watching voids grow
In the phantom blooms.

And I wept from my core,
When at the gate I heard
Thy wish to go
Where my feet cannot fall

I see the feather soar
Through the scar we share,
But no—I cannot go there.
Canst thou hear me call?

I see the feather soar
Where I kissed thy soul,
Down, down where the rivers roll
I see the feather fall.

Where does it sail away to?
Which heart does it bid adieu?
What kiss does it offer the stream?
Which of us dies in the dream?
