If I Were What You See...

When strangers see me
They often react as if afraid
I do not know why
I am slightly bigger than the average man
But I'm neither Manson
Nor Dahmer
Nor Bundy
Yet those who don't know me
respond as if someone has unleashed a monster in the room
Do they see not me
but the potential for destruction that my twenty inch arms could bring?
Do they see not a man capable of protecting the people he loves, but a fifty inch chest of a wrecking ball looking to wreak havoc whilst he walks?
Yes,
I am strong
Yet I'm no villain
No,
I'm not wearing a  permanent smile
But neither am I some wild eyed killer
Not safe to smile without reason
Shit like that can get a man committed
Or at least held overnight for observation
If I do act like what they seem to expect
Will I be caged?
Or revered as a God?
Will they respect my aggression?
Or will they simply fear being next?
Glad to escape  my outpouring of wrath
Yet eager to see another consumed as a sacrifice to the monster before them
The avatar to the God of their own misguided expectations
